What could the US government do with $50?

Had a crazy idea: What if all approx 342.6 million people living in the USA bought a simple $50 US Savings Bond? That’s roughly $17 Billion dollars. While it is only a fraction of a percent of the budget, there must be something the people could crowd source.

1. Fund the entire National School Lunch program

For 1 year

2. Fund NASA’s Science Mission for 1-3 yrs.

Not the entire agency. Their mission to science program.

3. EPAs entire discretionary spending

4. US Army Corps of Engineers

Civil works and flood mitigation

5. Dept. of Energy annual R&D budget

6. Fund at least 1 or 2 FEMA major disaster declarations

7. Buy at least 50 F35 fighter jets.

8. Increase missile and munition replenishment

We sure are shooting off a lot right now.
