What should my next set of dice be made of?
I've decided that I want to commission someone to make me a set of polyhedral dice (D&D dice). I've got some ideas in mind as to the precision of the edges/corners, possible color combinations, etc. But I'm struggling some with deciding on a material. All of these have pros and cons.
1. Acrylic
Possibly the easiest material to design with and customize.
2. Metal
Brass would look awesome, don't you think?
3. Bone
Not sure you could ensure consistency and accuracy
4. Glass
Could be made very precise but not sure about brittleness
5. Plastic
Affordable but a little boring.
6. Ice
Have a mould. Make a new set before each game. When the dice are no longer usable, time to leave the table.
7. Silicone
bouncy dice
8. Sugar cubes
For those Shawshank type game settings.
9. Wax
10. Combination of materials
Maybe glass with copper wire edges.
