What to do in Kentucky
This might sound funny, but I'm planning on taking a road trip to Kentucky with my family for spring break. I've visited 36 of the 50 United States, including Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and Tennessee (every state surrounding Kentucky except for Missouri)... but Kentucky has always eluded my travels.
So if I go to Kentucky, what do I do there?
(BTW, I'm not visiting distilleries, since I'm bringing three kids ages 8-13)

1. Louisville Mega Cavern
It looks like a massive, sprawling underground amusement park right under the city of Louisville. https://louisvillemegacavern.com/
2. Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory
I've been a baseball fan since I was a little kid, so I gotta see this. https://www.sluggermuseum.com/
3. Ark Encounter
Creationists rebuilt Noah's ark according to the specifications in the Bible, and it looks impressive. Now, I don't believe in the Creationist and Young Earth theories (there are too many facts and evidence that they conveniently choose to ignore), but I think this will be a nice offbeat (though expensive) attraction to visit. https://arkencounter.com/
4. Kentucky Horse Park
It's a massive horse farm, competition venue, and equestrian theme park in Lexington. Looks like fun for all ages. https://www.kyhorsepark.com/
5. Cave Hill Cemetery & Arboretum
My wife has some qualms about visiting a cemetery (probably from Asian culture), so this may be a no-go, but it looks really neat as far as cemeteries go. Colonel Sanders (the KFC guy) and Muhammad Ali (the boxer) are buried here. https://www.cavehillcemetery.com/
6. Red River Gorge Geological Area
A forested mountain chock full of awesome geological features like archways, tunnels, caves, hidden pools, and waterfalls. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/dbnf/recreation/recarea/?recid=39458
7. Salato Wildlife Education Center
Looks like tons of fun for the kids! https://fw.ky.gov/Education/Pages/Salato-Wildlife-Education-Center.aspx
8. Red River Gorge Underground
Kayaking and boating in an underground cave. https://www.gorgeunderground.com/
9. Old Fort Harrod State Park
Looks like a recreation of an old fort with reenactors. https://parks.ky.gov/harrodsburg/parks/historic/old-fort-harrod-state-park
10. Lost River Cave, Mammoth Cave, The Original KFC, Cumberland Falls...
So many neat places I probably won't visit this time around, because they are in the southern part of Kentucky where I'm not planning on going.
