Which event caused a complete behavioural change in your life?

While some events are major life-changing events, some others are simply passing comments from someone I barely knew (which prompts me to always try to think before I speak). Here they are, in no particular order of importance.

Which event caused a complete behavioural change in your life?

    1. When my dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

I'm going to sound like I'm a completely spoiled child, but in some ways I was. This was one of my wake up moment that I had to fully stand on my feet and I cannot rely on my parents bailing me out.

    2. Accidentally joined a running event

I had a love-hate relationship with running. Prior to this event, I didn't want to do it anymore, and this event made me realized that I could have fun running, when I didn't care about the clock. So I focused on that instead and have been running regularly ever since.

    3. A friend told me "What are you waiting for? You have nothing to lose!"

It's a simple sentence but it woke me up. Ever since then, whenever I feel fear of attempting something new, I think of what do I get to lose, and it's almost always something I can handle.

    4. Start my own business

Growth begins at the end of your comfort zone. So much so that I had forgotten when I felt comfortable. I learned so much and grew so much in the process.

    5. Failing my own business

I'm still processing it, but it's humbling to realize that having the courage to quit is perhaps as important as the grit to continue

    6. Being a full time writer

Unfortunately, the change wasn't positive. This one puts me in a depression. That solitary life doesn't work well for me.

    7. The day my dad passed suddenly

I still remember the feeling, but what also strikes me was, somehow we found the strength to go on. Perhaps the fear of the nightmare is worse than the nightmare itself.

    8. Someone told my mom that a nerdy girl couldn't possibly care for fashion

I decided I want to prove that person wrong.

    9. The day I learned from genetics class that I might have diabetics risk

So I refrained from sugar since I was in high school. (My blood sugar level has always been normal)

    10. Doing something regularly until it became a habit

I've so many of these I didn't even need to motivate myself to do it: sports, eating healthy, learning languages, and now idea list with NotePD!
