But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?" (Matthew 5:13)
1. Our true nature is unchanging.
We are like grains of salt scattered throughout the world. Our inherent purpose is to season life with love, just as salt enhances flavor. When we forget this, we become like salt that has lost its saltiness – inert and unable to fulfill our true function as expressions of the divine.
In truth, we cannot truly lose our divine nature, just as salt cannot chemically lose its saltiness. However, we can forget our true selves through ego-based thinking. The question "how can it be made salty again?" aligns with Love's emphasis on remembering our true nature through letting go of ego-based perceptions.
The metaphor of salt being "thrown out and trampled" if it loses its flavor is the suffering we experience when we forget our spiritual identity. This happens when we live from the ego's perspective rather than from our higher self.
Let us remember our true nature as expressions of love and maintain our "saltiness" by aligning with our higher purpose rather than getting lost in worldly concerns.
