I turned 65 last week, so I have known some "Good Old Days" and certainly miss some things. Taking this challenge. We could also list things we DON'T MISS about the good old days, like cigarette smoke in public places, dial up modems, etc. For another day.
Just back from Las Vegas where I learned to shoot craps 40 years ago on 25 cent and $1 limit tables. Continued into to my 40's and 50's where limits were $5, but I still played with multiple chips on the line as I took my odds and bet the come, sometimes playing for hours. One time in Tahoe I even rolled 7 SEVENS coming out while the table kept doubling down. It was a beautiful thing and will never happen again. Limits at the crap tables this trip (in the middle of the day I might add) were $25! Just takes the fun out of it to me. I did not roll the dice. Over it. Spent my money at the Four Seasons spa instead and placed my bets for future PGA Majors in the sportsbook.
Controversial choice, but I miss not being contactable 24 hours a day. If you'd arranged to meet someone you damn well had to turn up, as there was no way to tell them you'd be late once you'd left the house!
Carrots tasted like carrots.
I typically like to live in the present (or worry about the future:)), however, there are some things i do miss about the good old days
You didn't have to immediately respond to a text/email/phone call. You could actually live your own life.
You could choose to not use one today, but it would be difficult. You definitely need to ration out your time.
