Here's a second list, because it is indeed hard to stick to only one :)

Around the world in 10 stops

I suppose this is like a top 10 destinations, just strung together into a plausible itinerary. I like slow deep travel, so in practice, this itinerary would happen over 3-12 months. I live on the East coast United States, so I'll start by going East to Europe in March, then around the world from there.

A first pass, once around the world going west from British Columbia. I'll have to re-visit this with alternate itineraries. So much for "ultimate".

Once I started, I doubt I could stop at 10. However, traveling East from South Pacific home.

This is modeled on one of several "world cruise" packages offered by the major cruise lines. In this case, the waters traversed, history, and routes taken are as important as the ports of call to me. These itinerary covers 6 of the 7 continents and has intentionally left out areas of the world I have visited before. We'll leave from the east coast of the United States and travel southward to start.
