Tips to create a great first podcast

I'm doing a master's degree on Communication & Media and planning to record podcasts in the university's podcast studio. It's my first podcast. Any tips to create a GREAT one?

Inspired by James Altucher and Seth Godin.

I'm not a podcast-er, so my suggestions are more experiments one can try. They come to my little experience in public talks. Give it a try.

I've never created a podcast before, but I do love listening to a lot of them.

With that disclaimer in mind, here are a few of my suggestions on how to create a good listening experience.

    1. Don't hide your ads

    0

I hate when the host is talking and is suddenly interrupted by an ad. It makes it impossible to skip the ad and worsens the listening experience.

    1. The Best Platforms Are Free

    0

When I first launched my podcast Strategic Possibilities I was paying $300/year to host my podcast and manage it and keep it on some platform and it was terrible. Now I just use Anchor and it distributes to all the major channels for free!

    2. Create great content: This is the most important tip! If you create engaging and interesting content, people will keep coming back for more.

    1. Transform your voice throughout the podcast. Learn to beatbox, voice-impersonate famous celebrities, and use interesting accents as much as you can to keep people entertained and paying attention.

    2. Find the one thing you like most about all the popular podcasts you listen to. Combine that one thing with your own personal approach. And use that as the thematic-centerpiece (make it your main focus) for all your podcasts.

I love this challenge.

What makes a good podcast for me?

    1. I'll learn something

    0

For me a sign of a good podcast is me pausing it to take down notes.

If you're not learning then what's the point?
