10 better ways to save the environment
This came from hearing people complain about plastic bags now costing 30p each. I assume this hike will just encourage theft (of bags) therefore defeating the purpose).
1. Bags for life
They should use all the money they've made from hiking up the price on bags for life and buy everyone an actual bag for life, a strong rucksack.
It'll be easier to carry, last much longer and cut down on the need for plastic bags. That or they can continue to push up the price, forcing more people to just steel the bags and obscuring the data making it look like costing more = less people using bags = the environment is saved.
2. Nuclear
I've heard that nuclear provides the most power, is cleaner (new plants can reuse waste and is far safer than most people imagine. Developed countries should make the switch and if developing switch to coal we should see that as a good thing as more energy should lead to much better lives for billions of people.
3. New packaging
Push for decomposable packaging. If we're getting rid of it have that end point in mind. Have seeds inside packaging and customer can benifit from free flowers as well as their product.
4. Help developing countries
Where does most of the pollution come from? If we focused more on helping them develop faster and less on forcing us to make a less than 1%impact everyone wins.
5. Don't rely on others for energy
If we view climate as the world instead of our contribution to it we'll get better results. How is transporting oil from one country to another better than just getting our own oil?
