10 Fun Things To Do With My Son.
He's 10.
1. Play any sport.
This will encompass ALL sports & variations under 1 idea.
2. Go to the beach.
3. Watch a movie or program.
Anything on a screen, any genre, all under 1 Idea.
4. Learn a new game, skill, or about a new topic together.
So, this covers board games, visits to museums, and fishing (because we've only been fishing once), etc.
5. Give him scheduled opportunities to ask me anything about any topic privately.
I do this already, pretty regularly, but most likely he's learning about things outside that I'm not aware of, so, creating a 'safe space' to talk - or practice - any life skill or situation.
6. Give him one day (per month?) to pick the activity of his choosing, no questions asked.
As long as it's feasible.
7. Go hunting for some of his favorite foods in new places.
I mean, we live in New York (on Long Island, very close to NYC) so, there is an infinite number of possibilities.
8. Take him to a live event.
He'd probably pick a sporting event but, here the idea would be to also be open to other kinds.
9. Take him on a trip.
Could be a road or plane trip; could be practically anywhere. Minimum of 1 night overnight stay required to qualify, father-son only, or, potentially with another father-son pair(s). This one will be another list of 10 ideas.
10. Play hooky from school for a day.
And probably combine with one or more of the above.
