10 Great Things about My Dad
1. He had the ability to say the right thing at the right time.
He knew what to say. He had such a calm manner while saying it also.
2. He was always put together.
He was always wearing something nice. Khakis and a button down. You never saw him in sweats.
3. Dry sense of humor
He wasn't flashy and didn't try and make you laugh. He just did.
4. Worked hard
He worked hard. He didn't feel comfortable talking to groups of people. He took a speaking class. He was always working to overcome his weaknesses. I think that's where I get it from.
5. He was well respected
He owned a real estate company. He consulted with Aretha Franklin and rented a home to Michael Jordan and Christ Chelios. He was well respected in his field. He was a realtor to a Detroit Lions player. Several athletes used his company to buy and sell their house.
6. He wrote letters to famous people
It's a thing we do in our family. We write emails or letters to people we want to know better. He wrote a letter to anyone famous that was moving into town to see if he could find them a house. I do this when I read a book I really like. I email the author.
7. He was a great friend
He had some great friends that came to his funeral and really cared about him. They said he was really kind. He was. He was welcoming and kind.
8. He tried to make my weekends at his really fun
It's like he planned it out every week. We would go to blockbuster on Friday night and have some yummy take out. I would go to an open house with him maybe. We would
9. He put a tv in my room
I had a tv in my room and was able to watch SNL back in the early to mid 90's. The EPITOME of SNLness. I loved that cast. When I was actually old enough to watch SNL I didn't like the cast.
10. Great Vacations
We went on some great vacations when I was growing up. The Big Red Boat, Universal Studios, Disneyland, Lake Tahoe and Northern Michigan. It was fun!
