10 Meals I can make in my new Pressure Cooker
My mom got me a pressure cooker for Christmas this year, and I'm so excited to start using it. I tried it for the first time yesterday, and I was blown away at how quickly dinner was ready.
Is feeling excited over a pressure cooker what it means to get older?! If so, I'm a willing victim.
1. Daal
Yesterday's first experiment. What usually takes me 2 hours on the stovetop took me 15 minutes. Hallelujah.
2. Chick pea curry
My second-favorite Indian food to make. So tasty, and quite healthy (if you limit the oil and salt). I'll have to fiddle with my aunt's recipe to make it suitable for the pressure cooker.
3. Soup
Beef stew could be good and hearty for the winter, but I've seen a few recipes for pea soup that look like they're worth trying.
4. Ramen
Speaking of soup... I've found a few good recipes for pressure-cooked ramen that I can't wait to try.
5. Meat
Of all kinds. The pressure cooker is supposed to make it tender and delicious without the labor of standing by the stove and babysitting. Maybe I'll try to make carnitas or chicken for tacos.
6. Mashed Potatoes
My main goal here is to see if it takes less time for the potatoes to cook through and get soft in the pressure cooker vs. boiling on the stove.
7. Chili
Or anything with beans, really. Pressure cookers are great for preparing dry beans.
8. Ribs
Kind of a cheat answer since I have "meat" above, but ribs almost feel like a distinct meal.
