10 MTPs for companies ( Massive Transformative Purposes)
An MTP consists of three words:
- Massive: Something audaciously big and aspirational. (WHAT)
- Transformative: Can cause significant transformation to an industry, community or to the planet. (HOW)
- Purpose: There’s a clear “why” behind the work being done. Something that unites and inspires action. (WHY)

8. "Does it help the boat go faster?"
This is kind of a meme among the self-help gurus. The British rowing team used this as a mantra to become Olympic champions. They asked themselves whether they would make the boat go fast for every decision. If it did, they would do it; if they did not, they would skip it. For example: go out to the pub? No. Do an extra run? Yes. This is not exactly an MTP but a good forcing function.
