10 Places I Regret Not Traveling To
I know never to say never. But I've reached an age where the hassle of traveling generally outweighs the benefits. Plus, with a severely disabled daughter I hesitate to go more than about 90 miles from home. In order for me to travel, something will have to change, and I dread the day that particular change comes. So I'm expressing this in terms of regrets, but recognizing that it is possible I could still get to some of these places. Heck, it's a big trip these days just to go to Nashville, and that's only a couple of hours drive.

1. Italy
I went here in the mid-1970s, but it was part of a choral group, and we were working every day. I didn't get to do much touristy stuff. I intended to go back and see the things I missed, but I never did. I doubt that I will now. (Several of the items below come from this same situation.) Specifically I would like to see Rome, Milan, and Venice.
2. London
Same trip as in #1, same intention, same never made it back.
3. English countryside
All the time I was in Great Britain was spent in big cities.
4. Paris
The only thing I really remember from Paris is Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the few tourist places we got to visit. Only the vaguest memory of the Louvre. We toured seven countries in six weeks, but the above are the four that I would visit again (or, technically, the first time since we didn't get near the English countryside).
5. Japan
I have had a fascination for the country and its people since high school. Never got the chance, and probably never will.
6. The Grand Canyon and Tombstone, Arizona
Went there in the mid-1970s also, but on a different trip (same choral group, though). My parents traveled all over the west when I was a toddler, but I don't remember any of it. That's why I would like to go to Tombstone. Though I was old enough to remember visiting Grand Canyon with my group, much didn't stick since I was mostly concerned about things going on with my girlfriend at the time.
7. Chicago
Been there for business, but I was tied up at a conference most of the time. I would like to just explore the city.
