As you will see, while I listed them separately, several of these fall into similar categories.
1. Scientific Exploration and Research:
Into so many fields. Ocean Engineering, Marine Geology, Ocean geography, etc.
2. Biodiversity and Discovery
More time spent in the environment means more opportunities to observe.
3. Resource Utilization
Everything from the cultivation of plankton to the geothermal energy is available to undersea development.
4. Space Analog
Inner Space is as alien and deadly as Outer Space. Lessons learned in one can often be directly applied to the other.
5. Pressure Adaptation
Lots more research to do in this area.
6. Extended Diving Time
By staying at pressure, divers do not need to contend with decompression times.
7. Psychological Experiment
There is limited research in this area. And mostly on individuals. Group dynamics needs to be better understood.
8. Environmental Advocacy
Most of tend to ignore or forget that which is not right in front of us. By immersing ourselves in the aquatic, it is more likely we will take care of both the environment and ourselves.
9. Escape from Overpopulation
The majority of the planet remains unpopulated.
10. Adventurous Lifestyle
In other words, among the best reason to do anything. Just For Fun!
