10 reasons why I am against the UK monarchy

In recent years, there has been renewed debate around the monarchy, particularly with the coronation of King Charles. In my view, the monarchy is undemocratic, expensive, and out of touch with modern Canadian values. The monarchy has outlived its usefulness and should be abolished.

1. Cost: £86,000,000 a year to UK taxpayers

2. Empty rituals and pomp

3. A dysfunctional family acting as moral leaders

4. Vestige of colonialism in a world that champions democracy

5. Watching a billionaire getting crowned is not inspiring

6. Lack of Accountability

7. Unfair Privileges

8. Little to no political influence

9. Public sentiment is low in the commonwealth
