10 reasons why the Socratic method sucks

Everyone says the Socratic method is a great tool for critical thinking. However, merely arguing one's beliefs is not enough; you must apply your beliefs to see what holds up. Philosophers often get stuck in philosophical analysis paralysis.

People who constantly question others may not be doing so in the pursuit of wisdom. These individuals are known as eristics. If they genuinely believe that nothing is certain, they are likely very unhappy.

    4. Questions are the beginning of wisdom not the end

    7. Questioning can lead to defensiveness in your interlocutor

    8. Can be used to steer a person to the wrong conclusions

    9. It can lead to Nihilism if everything is uncertain

    10. A priori reasoning < A posterior reasoning
