10 things that I spend a lot of time on during the day that I could probably do less of
Recently, I’ve been frustrated because I have a lot of things I want to do, but time always seems to sleep away.
I feel I am fairly productive, but I could always improve. Maybe I can do a time diary?

1. Walking the dog
I get a lot of enjoyment out of this, exercise and usually listen to audiobooks or sometimes make phone calls. I’m not sure if I would cut corners here but some days I can spend two hours walking.
I could address this by walking faster to cover more ground in less time and also only go out on one long walk per day.
2. Working at my job
I could always quit or get fired. I like my job so I would not like to do either those things right now.
I could work on doing less overtime less interruptions to finish in a more timely manner.
3. Playing music
Unstructured noodling is something that I enjoy and it is relaxing, but it doesn’t really move the needle very much. I could exchange this time for more structured practice and get better.
4. Watching TV at the end of the day
This is family socializing. I do some irritating multitasking and play guitar scales while I watch TV. I could go to bed earlier sometimes or just not participate if it’s not something I don't want to watch.
5. Preparing and eating food
Most days, I only eat two meals, but sometimes they are full-blown extravaganzas with a lot of prep (I work from home), and I could spend as long as two or three hours a day doing this. I could pick a few days to eat leftovers or something that will take 10 or 15 minutes.
6. "lively discussions" with family members
This is never good: I need to figure out how to make them shorter or not happen in the first place.
7. Dead time between work and dinner
The hours between 6 - 8 PM are frequently a black hole.
8. Dealing with email
I am pretty good about only looking at emails a few times a day but I get hundreds.
I should cancel about half.
I could get or write an app to help deal with the volume.
9. Shopping online
I spend a lot of time looking at tools and guitars, etc. I enjoy it but it is a waste of time and I eventually buy more stuff.
I should use the stuff that I have.
10. YouTube Rabbit Holes
Turn it off!
