10 Things to be Grateful/Thankful for
As humans, we have evolved but at the same time, our brains still have our basic survival instincts. People gravitate towards negativity and emotions complicate things. There are so many things we can be grateful for everyday and here are some basic things
1. You can see
If you are reading this, then it means you have the gift of sight. You can see, there are many people who don't have this ability and would do anything to have that ability
There are so many things that could go wrong in life, but the fact that you're reading this means you've made it through another day. Be grateful for every moment you have.2. You have electricity
If you are viewing this, that means you have electricity, you have the means to pay for it and you also have a device you can use to access this. Many people do not have electricity, and many others do not have the means to own their own devices to use the things we now take for granted like electricity, internet access, computers, and smartphones3. The ability to use your hands, legs
Maybe I am a minority, but I constantly try to remind myself that as basic as it seems, I am glad I have full use of my arms, legs and hands. Not everyone has those gifts, some were born without them, some may have had them taken by a horrible accident or disease.4. You are educated
Being educated does not always mean you have been though K-12 then received a 4 year degree, it could simply be you are educated through your unique life experience. Although you can be educated through various learning institutions, you can also be well read and experienced to gain education. If you are participating in this medium of Notepd.com...you most likely have a respectable education in some of these forms.5. You have the ability to change lives
This sounds so powerful, but everyone has this ability. You can do a small favor for someone that you don't think is a big deal to you, but to someone else, it could be life altering. Thanking someone, doing something kind for someone who may never be able to repay you, could change someone's life in an instant. A simple gesture, smile or greeting can change someone's mood and improve their day.6. Relationships
Take a moment to think about who you have around you, who do you spend the most time with? Who do you text the most? Who do you call the most? You are a product of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Some people don't have more than 1 and maybe some don't have anyone unfortunately. If you have a spouse or partner, you are lucky. If you have supportive parents, you are fortunate, if you have at least one trusted friend, you are blessed.7. You have the Luxury to complain
Angry because the line is long at the grocery/retail store? Be grateful you are able to afford food/clothing/entertainment. Your internet is out? Ready to verbally destroy the customer service rep on the phone after waiting for 29 minutes to talk to a human? Be grateful you have internet service to complain about, a computer/smartphone to use. That hard to find item is sold out everywhere you look! Be grateful you are in a position to attain something like that. Your car isn't starting, inconvenient for sure, but some can't afford to own such an inconvenience.8. You can eat 2 or 3 meals per day
Missed breakfast? Maybe you had to work through lunch? Dinner time has passed? Annoying yes, but there are so many who may not get one meal today.9. Your Health
Good health is something we often take for granted until we no longer have it. If you're healthy, be thankful for every day that you can enjoy your life without pain or illness.
