10 Things You Dislike / Find Challenging About Applying For A Job or Recruiting A New Team Member
It's been a minute since I applied for a new job, but I think I can fill this one out.
1. Seeing a Promising Ad Only To Find a Deal-Breaker Upon Reading It To Completion
2. Filling In an Online Form That Duplicates All the Information from your Resume
Bonus points if they make you send your resume before/after this anyway. Triple points to link to your LinkedIn Profile after filling in the form.
3. Being Ghosted By Recruiters
4. Being Ghosted by The Interviewer/Hiring Manager
5. Scripted Questions #1: What's Your Biggest Weakness
6. Scripted Questions #2: Why Do You Want To Work Here
Uhh... you tell me what's great about it? The hiring process overall has historically been with a great power imbalance of the employer over the applicant - the applicant is treated like a 'supplicant'. If you're jobless, you might be desperate, but employers always seem to prefer people who already have a job, and such the employer should be trying to sell the opportunity as much as the applicant is trying to sell themselves.
7. Scripted Questions #3: Why Do You Want To Leave Your Current Position
Because I'm hoping this one will be better in some way.
8. Lowball Offers
9. The Waiting Is The Hardest Part
10. Quitting
Handing in a resignation letter is an awkward part of embarking on a new adventure.
