10 tools every homeowner should have
These are the most useful tools. Even if you never build anything, they are important for maintenance.
1. Six in one screwdriver
This lets you use almost any common screw. With a little bit of creativity it becomes a drill extension as well. These can be picked up for less than 5 dollars.
2. Battery powered drill
take anything apart!
3. Strong scissors
Get a big sharp pair that can cut through cardboard
4. Box cutter/razor blade
Cut carpet, strip wires!
5. “Robo grip” pliers
There are different brand names for these, but they have a mechanism where they are adjustable and they automatically square up around a nut you’re trying to tighten or loosen
6. Good quality hammer
Once you get one, everything will look like a nail!
7. Extension cord
8. Toilet plunger
You won’t always need this but when you do there is no substitute!
9. Disposable gloves
I buy these 100 at a time. When wearing them I am invincible and can pick up poop and clean toilets and cat boxes. Also great for working on a car, tending to wounds, washing a dog, grilling or painting.
10. Lineman’s pliers
These powerful pliers can be used to cut, snip, pull and shape things
