A month ago, I bought snowshoes. Now there is finally enough snow to try them out. Here are a few good reasons why it pays to have snowshoes.

1. You can hike in places where other winter hikers can't.
2. They provide better traction on slippery or uneven terrain.
4. Snowshoe hiking doesn't do any damage to the ecosystem.
5. They are much cheaper than skis or touring skis.
6. You don't need to learn how to use them.
7. They make you feel like a trapper or explorer.
8. Snowshoeing is a sport without risk of injury.
9. Snowshoe hikes are a great way to switch off and let your mind wander.
10. If you put them in front of your house, you show all passers-by that a sporty and nature-loving person lives here.
