Best Practices for Mental Toughness? Show me yours, I'll show you mine.
My “mental toughness” boils down to the following:
1. Inherent Stubbornness/Rebelliousness
Many times very infuriating to others. Values and objectives internalized. It doesn’t mean that I become violent or anything like that. It just means that I know what my values are & I take people seriously concerning their own natures. I don’t expect them to change. Has served me well in life or death circumstances.
2. Keeping an Open Mind I Ask Lots of Questions
I’m always asking questions of others. I also try to determine their natures. They may have information that can help me improve on my winning edge, which enables me to maintain my mental toughness in unfamiliar situations. How do you know whether or not you have common ground if you don’t talk to people?
3. Self Discipline
Being raised by a Dad who epitomized mental toughness is my secret weapon. Trained from 5 years old. Train your children well.
4. Don’t Be a Deer in the Headlights
We all find ourselves in challenging circumstances. Observe and figure it out quickly. ACT. Re-evaluate.
