1. The Meaning of Meekness.
Meekness is often misunderstood as weakness or timidity, but it refers to being humble and gentle. It is the opposite of arrogance, aggression, and self-assertion. The meek are those who have surrendered their false sense of separate identity and embraced their true Self as one with God and all creation.
Inheriting the Earth
To "inherit the earth" does not mean to possess material wealth or earthly power. It points to an experience of inner peace and joy that comes from letting go of the ego's demands and accepting the truth of our divine nature as spiritual beings.
In essence, Jesus is teaching that true blessedness lies not in worldly pursuits or self-assertion, but in the humble acceptance of our spiritual reality. The meek, by relinquishing the ego's control, inherit the kingdom of heaven within and experience the peace that comes from living in alignment with God's love.
