Blessings / Gratitude List
So, I am following up on yesterday's PITA list...
1. The Wife
Love her. She's passionate about working with kids, about her family, and her TV shows (lol). We ended up having to take care of her father (who developed Alzheimer's and passed during the COVID lockdowns) and her mother, who is now 93 and legally blind (but sharp as a tack).
2. The Kid
Young man, actually... he's kept out of trouble and is smart and curious about things he's interested in, and isn't afraid to try new things - now, he's taking up the guitar. Next year, he'll attend county college and plans to transfer to a four year school.
3. My Health
My dad had a couple heart attacks by the time he was my age. He smoked, and I never did, so that's helped. Yes, I need to exercise more, but overall no major chronic issues.
4. My Friends
Whether from childhood, college, various jobs, or football officiating, they've kept me on my toes, provided a lot of laughs and good memories, and mutual mental health support when needed.
5. The Pets
They love unconditionally (in their own ways, even the cats), provide regular laughs, and find ways to take us out of our routines when we need to get taken out of them.
6. Work
While I have issues, I have a job in an organization that does good (providing homes for adults with developmental disabilities) and the people who work here are on the same page about making our client's lives as meaningful as possible.
7. Our Neighborhood
Good folks... friendly and get along well. Just gotta get back to the summer block party that stopped during the lockdowns.
8. Son's Lacrosse Team
He's played since 2nd grade... his coach since then is the high school coach (coach has twin boys in our son's grade), and the young men and their parents have been a pleasure to spend time with. We'll miss it when it is done.
9. Football Officiating
It's been a great ride, its own family of a sort. One of the things that gets me out of bed in the morning in the Fall. Wish I would have started earlier.
10. Here
I appreciate everyone who posted real posts here, whether very short, or long and detailed. And I appreciate having a place like this where I can express myself, (push myself when needed to keep streaks going).
Thanks to @JamesAltucher for providing this platform, to whoever brought it back from the 'dead' and for all of you who participate (or have participated) here.
