    1. Calloway: "Let me share this with you real quick. I had lunch with Ophelia today."

    2. Solene: "Who?"

    3. Calloway: "Ophelia, your niece."

    4. "Solene: "Oh...OK, you know you were about to get yo' head cracked. Don't you?

    5. Calloway: "Ha.ha.ha.ha.ha.ha."

    6. In this short and somewhat humorous dialogue, we see how quickly things could have taken a different turn if Ophelia had been an ex-girlfriend or someone with a more complex history.

Our perceptions play a significant role in our reactions. Initially, Solene's response, "Who?" indicated a lack of knowledge about Ophelia.
However, Calloway's quick clarification diffused the situation with humor. Solene's playful comment, "Oh... OK, you know you were about to get yo' head cracked. Don't you?" highlights how easily misunderstandings arise based on our perceptions.
Our thoughts and perceptions shape our responses. We create mental images and assumptions about situations and people, which lead to unnecessary conflicts.
Questioning our perceptions is the key that unlocks the door to our happiness. Can we break free from the cycle of attacking and defending persons, places, and things?
