Companion mobile apps for basketball
1. Ball pressure checker
Using AR mode just point your camera, drop the ball and let the app analyze whether it jumps low or high.
2. Hits counter - using a microphone
Just record a sound of the ball hitting the hoop successfully (it's better to have any kind of net on the hoop, otherwise a successful hit is just a silence), and let the app listen to the sounds near the hoop, tracking whether you've made a basket or not.
3. Dribble counter - using apple watch
You can put a watch on the dribble hand and it will track your hand motion to count the number of ball dribbles.
4. Dribble counter - using microphone
It's an easier and more convenient way cause with the watch you have to move it from hand to hand, the microphone approach is more universall. You can record the sound of your ball bouncing on the current surface you are practicing on, and the app will listen to your dribble and pick up the number based on the surface hits.
5. Jersey designs enciclopedia
I love jerseys, they are a piece of art for me. I'm constantly checking on google how some jerseys looked like a few decades ago, what was the design of the city jersey for my fav Los Angeles Clippers 4 years ago? I want to have this under my fingertips.
6. Basketball court availability
You can monitor the "traffic" on your favorite basketball court. Just to find out whether it's free to run some personal drills, or maybe a couple of buddies are there so you can ball together.
7. Shot range meter
HomeCourt does similar things, but it requires a phone stand, it's not really quick to set up this stuff, I would use some ibeacon just to place it under the hoop and check my distance during the shot moment.
8. "Autotune" for your shot
It will be a fun app, just record your shot, app will process this video and align the ball movement to hit the basket. Booom, you are a youtube legend who however never gives live performances (and we know why: because you suck).
9. A video editor with a library of the sports commentator's iconic lines/phrases
So you can record your dribble moves, and shots, chain this and then add a voice-over to create a quick Tik-Tok video maybe.
10. Convenient scoreboard for Apple Watch
No matter how are you playing (a full scrimmage or 1-on-1), just use your watch to see the score and edit it.
