Content to consume when learning a new language
1. Satirical news
Whatever the equivalent of The Onion is in your target language.
French: Le Gorafi
Italian: Lercio
Spanish (Spain): El Mundo Today
Russian: Panorama
2. Actual news
Sometimes you can find a "slow" version in podcast form.
3. Comprehensible input podcasts
Silly Stories in Spanish is really fun if you're a beginner.
4. Watch your favorite series in your target language
5. Watch YouTube videos with the 'Language Reactor' Chrome extension
6. Scroll TikTok and/or Instagram with an account created to consume content only in that language
A mix of native content and videos aimed at learners of the language.
7. Listen to music and read the lyrics
There are also apps for this.
8. A Babbel or Duolingo podcast
I quite like the Babbel one for Spanish. If I remember correctly they have one for beginners while the Duolilngo one is only for intermediate learners, but I could be mistaken. I like that there's a voice speaking Spanish as well as someone explaining what's going on in English, without translating word for word. I've only listened to a few, I should get back to it.
9. Podcasts that are not for learners of the language
This can feel a bit too much if you're a beginner and I'm not sure how useful it is, but maybe it's worth it if you also have the transcript and you look up words. Interestingly, when I tried this with Entiende Tu Mente, I understood a lot more the second time I listened to the same episode.
