Familiar John Irving Story Beats In "The Last Chairlift" [SPOILERS]
Most of the time, if you demanded to know my favourite author, I'd have told you it's John Irving. I've read the majority of his books (by an informal count). I'm not enjoying his latest and probably last novel, The Last Chairlift, that much because it feels predictable with many story elements being repeated.

2. Beloved Character Murdered by a previously seen character with a political axe to grind.
The World According to Garp, A Prayer for Owen Meany.
3. Transgender character is a pseudo-parent
The World According to Garp
4. The Phrase "Non-Practicing Homosexual"
A Prayer for Owen Meany.
5. Canada as a Contrast to the USA
A Prayer for Owen Meany, Son of The Circus
6. Dodging The Draft Through Injury
A Prayer for Owen Meany.
7. English Teachers in New Hampshire

8. Main Character is a Writer
