“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21) (2 min 40 sec)

    1. This is a profound spiritual teaching that points us away from focusing on the ephemeral, illusory material world and instead orienting our minds toward the eternal spiritual realm.

The physical world we perceive with our senses is not real - it is a dream projected by the ego-mind. Our reality is spiritual, as God's perfectly loved creations. But when we believe we are separate bodies in the material world, we place great value on worldly things - money, possessions, status, relationships, etc. This is the "treasure" Jesus is referring to.
When he says "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also," he's pointing out that whatever we give our attention and devotion to is what will dominate our thoughts and experience. If we make the things of this world our treasure, our hearts and minds will be consumed by that level of reality. We will feel all the lack, anxiety and fear that comes from believing we are vulnerable bodies in a perilous world.
Instead, we should make God's Love our only treasure. We should turn our attention away from the dream of separation and look within to connect with the eternal, boundless spiritual essence that is our true Self. As we focus more and more on the treasure of God's Love, that is what we will experience. Our hearts and minds will dwell in the peace, joy and safety of our true home in God.
This is not to say we should ignore or reject the material world. We can still remain active in the world and extend love to all. But Jesus counsels us to recognize that nothing here is our real treasure. Our real abundance lies in remembering our eternal Oneness with God. As we shift our focus more and more in that direction, that is what we will manifest.
Jesus is advising us to be mindful of where we are placing our attention and devotion. Let us make our treasure the eternal truth of God's Love, and our hearts and lives will be filled with the riches of the spirit. This is the path to true abundance and the peace of God which is our inheritance. The material world is an illusion - let us give all our dedication to the true treasure of spiritual awakening.
