Grievances are like grumpy grampas in your mind. (1 min 19 sec)

Preview

    1. They're those old, stuck feelings of being angry, annoyed, or hurt about something that happened in the "already gone."

Maybe someone said something mean, or you didn't get what you wanted. These grumpy grampas like to hold onto those feelings and try to convince you they are real.

    2. Grievances come from believing you are separate, like characters in a movie.

When that happens, it's easy to feel like someone did something wrong to you personally. But we're all connected, like actors in the same play. When you remember that, those grumpy grampas seem to vanish almost miraculously. You simply choose to be happy instead.
Let's say you didn't get the lead role in the Broadway play (boo!). A grievance would be holding onto those hurt feelings and blaming the director or thinking you're not good enough.

    3. Here's another approach.

Instead, you can choose to forgive the situation and remember that everyone is doing their best. Perhaps there's another role that could suit you even more, or this might present an opportunity to learn something new. When you let go of the grievance you open yourself up to feeling happy again.
