I often feel that I am perhaps the world's worst gift giver. The mere thought of it causes me so much anxiety and stress. Perhaps that is grist for another list. Or for future therapy. The point is that everyone at some point or another has had trouble finding the "perfect" gift. Maybe there is room for a virtual or actual gift finder / purchaser you could delegate to. What might this service look like? Definitely more than a personal shopper.

1. It would start with an interview.

You would have an in-depth conversation with the person (or AI) about who the present is for, what is the occasion, what is your relationship, budget, and logistics. Just to name a few of the topics covered.

2. The Guru would then ideally present you with a variety of options.

3. Is online acceptable or do you want that in-person experience?

Of course, the Guru would be fighting the crowds and standing in line. Not you.

4. Do you want full control, or do you trust the Guru with last minute tweaks or adjustments?

5. Pricing might be trickier. And likely quoted for each particular assignment.

You could have a flat fee for a one-time consultation and list of ideas. Perhaps another fee if in-person shopping is expected. For hard to buy for assignments, there will definitely be more time and energy invested. So the Gift Guru gets more Moolah.

6. Each contract would have to be completely confidential.

So, word of mouth would not be a good marketing strategy.

7. Gift Giving Consultant + Personal Shopper = Gift Guru.
