How could students get more from college?

    1. Talk to your professors

Who cares if they seem intimidating, esp if it's in a very large class (100+ people).. You've got nothing to lose by picking their brains. You're paying a lot of money to attend and it would be a waste if you don't get in touch with your profs.

    2. Try to get an internship and not in your senior year

If you can get an internship early, you'll get exposure to a job and have a better sense of what skills you'll need and thus can take the right classes.

    3. Don't sweat it with relationships

Nobody know if you or the SO you make will move across the country or something. Do pursue if you meet someone special but don't sweat it if you're the only one who's single and it seems everyone around you is in a relationship.

    4. Get good (but not perfect) grades

Unless it's something that's core to your career path, learn as much as you can with a reasonable amount of effort (think 80/20 rule.) It's better to get a B with 1/10 the effort it takes to get an A unless the class is especially crucial to your particular career niche (i.e. if you want to be a Machine Learning Engineer, strive for that "A" in the Machine Learning course but it's fine if you get the "B" in, say, Chemistry or Asian Literature.) Use the time you save on other activities that enrich your college experience including networking with other students, volunteering, new hobbies, or researching that quirky idea that your professor mentioned in class rather than mindless drinking, partying, or doing drugs.

    5. Don't underestimate the basics (exercising, eating reasonably nutritious foods, sleeping enough.)

If you feel like crap (physically or mentally), you'll want to go down this checklist:

    • Are you eating enough and getting the right nutrients?
    • Are you sleeping enough?
    • Are you drinking too much?
    • Are you exercising enough?
    • Are you doing drugs? If no, are you taking your vitamins? Or any weird supplements?

If you're all good on the above and still are tired or depressed, then it may be time to see a doctor but you're probably wasting the doctor's time if the above isn't in order.
