The "light" is a metaphor for the divine Love that is the underlying reality of all existence. It's a state of consciousness characterized by peace, forgiveness, and oneness.
3. We project the darkness of fear and separation as long as we identify with the ego's thought system.
Being our true selves allows us to experience the Light of Love.
