I learned to read old-fashioned German handwriting
The occasion was an entry in a chronicle from 1850 that someone posted on Facebook.
Between 1500 and around 1940 there was a very ornate script in the German states that my grandparents still used.

I have now learned to read it to be able to read the manuscripts of people like Goethe and Nietzsche and also older chronicles from our region.
