Introducing A New Dog Into Our Pack

When Trixie died last March that took us down to four dogs which is low for us. Today we're going to introduce a new dog in. The dog came into my wife's rescue from the reservation in Fort Defiance. She named him Rooster which we've long thought would be a fun dog name. It's a bit of a process to introduce dogs so this is our plan.

    1. Try to tire our dogs out a little bit early.

We're about to take the dogs on the mile and half loop around our house. This doesn't wear them out necessarily but will hopefully take off the edge of hyperactivity.

    2. Take Bonner to the rescue to meet Rooster there.

Bonner is our big dog. I mentioned whether taking Junior would be a good idea as he is the most volatile personality but Joellyn thinks taking Bonner would be better. Not sure why she thinks that but she is the expert. Literally.

    3. Introduce them all outside.

When Joellyn gets home with Rooster and Bonner, we'll introduce everyone outside.

    4. All go on another walk together.

This will just be down to where our mailbox is at the bottom of the hill, about a mile round trip.

    5. Hopefully then everyone will get along.
