Little affirmations

There were some downed trees near our house, I got permission from the land owner to take the wood, two oak trees and one juniper. I needed to cut them up to get them in my pickup truck to drive them back to our house. This was quick 40 minute, early morning errand but made me feel like I was doing some for my wife an me. It was at least a week's worth of wood which in the context of 12-13 week winter is a lot.

A water tender is a water truck that we use in the fire department for firefighting. We have no hydrant system, so the tenders hold a lot of water to feed the engines. I had to drive one of them back from getting it's annual service and although it's not that it is that difficult it still requires focus and down shifting, which you need to do, isn't always so easy. I build driving that far up into something more than it is, it is always easier than I think it will be but making that drive is a good small scale challenge.

I had a call related to my day job about some pretty sophisticated stuff that is new to many advisors but as a function of being curious I was much further along in my learning which elevated the conversation a bit. Being told I was more curious than most is external validation but still, it was a nice small win.
