Making a tactical pen into a more useful multi-purpose tool.

The concept of tactical pens is that they are writing utensils that can also be used as a means of self-defense in drastic circumstances. I have one that was designed more as a multitool. In addition to being a pen, mine also includes a whistle, a glass breaker, two screwdrivers, a flashlight, and a can opener. A tool in the shape and form of a pen is very convenient to carry in a pocket, purse, or bag. What other tools or features might be useful? Think of what you might need with you throughout the day. Let's see what everyone comes up with.

    1. A knife

The tactical pen I have has a knife attached to it. But the knife is not very useful. It's not sharp and you can't open it easily. So let's make the knife sharper, easier to open, and more useful.

    2. A lighter

I don't smoke but I sometimes need a lighter if I'm out with friends and they want to smoke cigars after dinner. Or lighting candles at a restaurant if the power goes out briefly.

    3. A saw

If you are trapped in an elevator or locked in a room for some reason, you might be able to saw through the bars of a window with this pen if there is no other way out.

    4. A hammer / nail puller combo

You might want to hang something up or put something up on your wall. Having a hammer on your pen would come in handy (and save you from having to go get one).

    5. A screwdriver set that includes Phillips, flathead, etc. plus maybe some extra bits that can be stored in the pen case when not being used.

If you are traveling and staying in hotels, often their TV remotes break because people try to use them as screwdrivers (to take apart their remote) so having a set of screwlocks would be helpful for hotel rooms as well as any other situation where you need a screwdriver but do not have one handy.

    6. A flashlight / laser pointer combo (the laser pointer could be activated by pressing down on the top of the pen twice quickly).

This would come in handy if giving presentations at night or trying to attract someone's attention across a field during an emergency situation (e.g., pointing at where firefighters should go).

    7. An earbud storage compartment plus mini-USB charging port so that when your phone dies while walking around all day, you can still listen to music by plugging into your phone via USB and then putting your earbuds into the storage compartm

Plus, now that we are talking about phones

    8. An airpump / deflator combo so that when you get home from work and realize you forgot to buy milk for dinner ,you can inflate your bike tires with air instead of going back out again just for milk

This saves time and energy since walking around all day is hard work

    9. Video camera / photo camera combo so that if you see something interesting while walking around all day ,you can document it with both video and photo evidence without having to carry another device around with you .
