People Who Shouldn't Be Allowed On Airplanes
1. People Who Argue With the Flight Attendants About Getting More Alcohol
I like a beer or other drink to relax too, but on the last two flights I've been on, I've seen a dispute about a passenger being cut off. It's an airplane, not a frat rager. Whatever limits on alcohol exist on the flight, treat them like every other safety regulation.
2. Baby Shamers
Nobody likes the sound of a crying baby, but no one is as bothered by it as the parents themselves. They have a right to fly, and starting kids off young teaches them how to behave properly (though admittedly they won't get the picture for years). Just because you have a baby doesn't mean you're sentenced to stay home till they're 8 years old or whatever. Parents of young children have the right to go on vacations, visit family, etc. and don't need any extra harassment on the way.
3. People Who Bring Too Much Carry-On
Do you ever notice that in spite of the airlines' attempt to organize boarding by zones, there's always a mad rush to be the first on the plane? I wondered that from the time I realized that it's more comfortable to sit in the lounge than in the plane, till I realized that the overhead bins fill up, and the last to arrive end up having to gate-check their rolling suitcases. Those bins seem like they should have enough room for everyone's stuff, so whenever there's a space shortage, I have to figure that someone's taking up more than their fair share of space in the overhead bins.
4. Aisle Congregators
We all like to stretch our legs. We all like to chat. But when there's an impromptu party in the aisle, people can't get to the toilets, and food and drink can't get to where they need to be. Keep it short, and sit down.
5. People Who Ignore Safety Guidelines (including masks)
If you couldn't guess, I was on a plane last night. It was my first time flying without a mask since the pandemic started, and it was delightful not having to. I have also noticed that restrictions on electronics have loosened in recent years, where there used to be an absolute ban on cell phones and tablet use altogether. While the rules change over time, you don't get to substitute your own judgement for safety regulations invented by experts - it's not every person for themselves up there.
