PITA Things

What's a pain in the posterior for me these days?

    1. 2FA

Besides our family banking, I work with about six banks between my full and part time jobs. All have 2FA.

And because both the work and home PCs clear out the 'trusted' feature (is it in the cache?), I have to re-do it on every log-in.

Expand that to now include almost all of the apps I use, and this is has come to be the bane of my existence.

    2. Dust

For some reason, it bothers me more these days... they say "a job well done need never be done again" never dusted. Or cut grass.

    3. Shoulder Drivers

The "entitled" class who think the shoulder of the road is their special lane. With our sinkhole traffic and detours here in NJ, they all come out. They're not special.

    4. Magnolia Trees

Beautiful for about a minute, but it always seems we get rain and high wind when they bloom, so I have a magnolia tree that's beauty lies on the ground. Requiring raking and picking up.

    5. Modern Medicine

The wife has had ongoing headaches for almost two years, similar to ones she had when we were dating (about 25 years ago). They said it was her occipital (sp) nerve Then, they gave her shots of prednisone, which fixed it until recently. Now, they say the doctors don't use prednisone for treating her pain. So, she's been to at least six different doctors, with nobody being able to solve the problem. And she's still in pain.

    6. The Wife

Yes, I feel for her going through the pain. But her way of dealing with it is being critical about the little things she's not happy with, mostly having to do with me.

The other day, I spent about an hour helping her sort out a problem with her Amazon Prime account.

When we ordered from GrubHub yesterday, their app must have grabbed her phone number for the account.

She complained about "why do these orders go through my phone." When we order out, I do the order, pay for it, go outside to get it from the driver, unpack it, and if there's a problem, I call to fix it. But the text confirmation is too much for her. (P.S.- went into GH and fixed it).

    7. The Son

Nothing major, but he wants to till and re-seed the front yard. It does need it, and we don't have the cash at this stage to pay to get it done (ie money for that went to covering repair costs for his car). So, we borrowed a tiller from a friend who is traveling a lot over the next month. Tested it and got it running yesterday.

But, the son doesn't have a real plan, and he has school and lacrosse until June, and his job on Sundays.

Will he get it started by the time our friend is back or will I end up either doing it myself or it not getting done at all?

And, will last fall's leaves ever get picked up? (They're on a mulched side of the house, not killing the grass).

    8. Work

This one's a whole list itself. At what point does a "hopefully soon to retire" person give up trying to improve things, and just ride it out?

    9. My Pain

The shoulder(s) are manageable - tendonitis & rotator cuff. The back/hips are getting to be too much. Physical therapy didn't help a lot, waiting the results of an MRI.

    10. "Historical Inertia"

Or, repeating the same bad habits. When I have the energy (weekend mornings, usually), I work on the 'side gig' projects I've been working on. But, I also try to take care of things around the house and doing the social media thing, which takes me out of my 'side gig' work. Been trying to break this habit (like using a short time for social media scrolling), but it isn't easy for me...

I do count my blessings, and they're far more than the PITA things... maybe that's tomorrow's list?
