Psychological Biases/Effect (Part 3)
Preview

    1. Commitment is the key

    0

If you make someone state a commitment they will act in such a way to remain consistent to their commitment.

    2. Attention

    0

Attention is a violation of a pattern.

    3. Measure what matters

    0

If we're measuring something we'll view it as important, even if it's not.

    4. Anchoring Bias

    0

People will work off the numbers you give them.

£300, too high £150. Maybe it was only ever worth £100

Anchor yourself by saying your a lot better than you really are. Sexiest man in here, smartest guy in Scotland, They say im the kindest person they know. ect.

    5. The IKEA Effect

    0

People perceive more value to things they are involved in.

Involve people in projects and they'll be more passionate about selling it. Get style advice from them and they'll be better wingmen. Get them to help with your CV and they'll help you get the best job.

    6. Story > Facts

    0

The better story wins, regardless of what is true. How many people believe false stories, even when presented with evidence to show otherwise?

Construct great stories about yourself. If people want to believe that, over the alternative, they will.

    7. Paradox of Choice

    0

Too much choice makes us unhappy.

What do you want to eat? aaahhhh.....

Do you want a Chinese of an Indian? Chinese

Keep choices limited and people will be a lot happier.

    8. Intention action gap

    0

When we say we want to do something, but don't. This is due to valuing the now, more than the future. I could work hard, sweat and feel exhausted at the gym, or I could rest introns of the tv.

To avoid this make the good happiest easier to do and bad harder. Do a push up a day. Don't have unhealthy snacks at home. Have a water bottle next to you throughout the day.

    9. Reversible Decisions

    0

We are happier with our choices when we can't reverse them. E.g after an exa compared to during the exam, when we can still change our answer.

    10. Focusing Bias

    0

What we focus on grows in importance (Even if it isn't important).

For example race seems to be a big topic nowadays. Whenever a main character is black that becomes a bigger story than the show/film itself. This is the focusing bias in full effect.

    11. Adaptation

    0

Good or bad we get use to the situation and return to baseline happiness.

Lockdowns were bad, until they weren't.

    12. Evalubility

    0

The easier it is to compare traits, the more important they become.

    13. Status Que Bias

    0

We tend to prefer things as they are. Change requires energy.
