Reasons I prefer hand tools.
As I've gotten older, I find myself using hand tools more and power tools less often. Mostly talking about lawn / garden chores and simple home repairs and crafts. Here are some of the reasons why.

1. Simpler
I've began a multi-faceted journey to simplify many different aspects of my life. This is just one more area.
2. Quieter
I try to be very considerate of my neighbors. (Not always reciprocated, but that's OK.). With my big hedge shears, I can be trimming at twilight and not bother anyone.
3. Less maintenance
Small engines and I have rarely gotten along. This is me sidestepping that. Plus, reworking a wooden handle or sharpening a shears blade with a file is another example of enjoying the simple ways.
4. Manual Labor
I get a bigger sense of accomplishment out of my little projects when using hand tools.
5. Less expensive
Usually.
6. More space efficient
My big tool tote has most of my hand tools. Not all, but most. Power tools that accomplish the same things would take up much more space.
7. Durability
With less to go wrong, hand tools last longer, and fail far less often.
8. Some people think I'm odd.
I've gotten many a funny look while using a manual reel mower or grass whip weed whacker in my yard. It's fun keeping people guessing.
9. Time
A project takes longer so it feels like I accomplished more. Fooling myself but it works.
