Skills That Martial Arts Can Teach You That Don't Involve Hurting Anyone
1. Language
You'll learn new terminology (unless the Martial Art is native to the same country you are, I suppose).
2. Dancing
You could probably pass some moves or forms off as dancing, if you've got the guts.
3. Safe Falling
Breakfalling can save your life. Take it from me.
4. Meditation
Many martial arts start and/or end class with a meditation session.
5. Respect For The Chain of Command
You submit to the authority of those more experienced in the art; age, gender etc. do not matter.
6. Tying Knots
Those belts don't tie themselves
7. Anatomy
How the musculoskeletal system functions especially.
8. Memorization
Whether it's a ceremony or a pattern of movements, you can increase your ability to store things in your head.
9. Calmness in the Face of Adversity
Not panicking when you get hit or at the notion of someone trying to hurt you is valuable.
10. Focus/Listening/Learning
The purpose of the meditation is to leave the outside world on the outside and devote the lesson time to learning the art.
