Sports/Exercises I Want To Try
1. Sun Hang Do
I used to do a lot of different martial arts, but especially Jiu-Jitsu until I injured my neck. The Lightning Kid has been enjoying this martial art found in Dojangs in the Fraser Valley. It's Korean and Tae Kwon Do based, but seems really comprehensive. It would be great to participate as father and son.
2. Kite Surfing
This looks really cool.
3. Regular Surfing
I tried it once in Hawaii. I'd love to do it again.
4. Indoor Rock Climbing
I've only done this once or twice. It seems like a great strength workout, a good mental/planning challenge, and you feel like a ninja superhero.
5. Cyclocross
I gave it a try over 10 years ago. Maybe I'd invest in the right bike and get a better taste.
6. Free diving
I'm pretty good at holding my breath, and I love to be underwater. This sport has a lot of technique and discipline, so getting qualified instruction would be crucial
7. Orangetheory
This workout is quite popular and seems to get results efficiently, though I worry about high intesnity workouts on older bodies especially the joints.
8. Parkour
There's a parkour place next to the Sun Hang Do place and the Indoor Rock Climbing Gym. It seems like a sport for the young, but never say never?
9. Archery
I heard about field archery, but couldn't remember the name of it till I Googled. It involves shooting at targets at different ranges in different terrains over a course, so it seems more dynamic than simply shooting down the same range over and over again. In looking for field archery, I discovered are several disciplines of the sport, including target archery, indoor archery, field archery, para archery, 3D archery, flight archery, ski archery and run archery.
10. Canyoning
Some rock climibing, some jumping in the water and swimming. I love sports that are hybrids or combinations of others - especially when they are about moving through space and getting from point A to point B.
