Squadcast is a recording platform for podcasters. There's a huge potential for the platform, however, here are some changes or updates I would love to see. I also don't mind beta testing, and giving more features ideas! These are all from what I would do, if I were to build a recording platform for podcasters or anyone that needs their idea recorded.
1. Producer Mode
Would love to see this one, especially being a technical producer, I would love to have the ability to have more controls compared to a podcaster. I will list what should include in the producer mode in the list!2. Mix "window" (Producer Mode)
Would love to have the ability to control or adjust the Output volume for each participant in the room and during the recording session. This helps with a final input, or if I am using OBS to capture the screen for live streaming, that would allow me to mix the audio on the fly. Also, a pre-fader (non-committed) plug-in processor would be amazing too! But I figure it's difficult to implement.3. Mute/ unmute Function (Producer Mode)
Would love to have the ability to Mute/ unmute (non - destructive) any of the guests especially if they have noisy background noise.4. Direct Message to an individual (Producer mode)
A direct message is very important. Being able to ping the host and give him a message without interrupting the conversation, and not bother the guest is a huge plus for making the show go smoothly.5. The ability to look at an individual's additional settings (Producer Mode)
This could be a tricky one. I am not sure if chrome allows it, but it would be fantastic and so much easier to troubleshoot if I can see the guests' or hosts' additional settings, and without going back and forth on what's on there and what's not on there.6. Keeping the upload windows open (Producer Mode)
In the past, I have lost audio with squadcast or one person's audio wasn't being recorded while the rest turn out fine. It would be great if I could have the Upload and progress window open on the side so I could periodically check them.7. Implement Midi Options (Producer Mode)
This could be an interesting one, especially with Stream deck and Elgato Pedal being announced. This way, I would use the stream deck for my squadcast hotkey, or the pedal for my own mute/ unmute button without using my mouse or anyone else knowing.8. Soundboard function (Producer or Podcaster Mode)
Soundboard function is pretty good, especially for a show that depends on sounds effect. Imagine if you're able to upload your intro music, play it, and then also some ads, and some sound effects. It would make Production so much more interesting! You don't need much. You could start with just 4 buttons, and go from there. And this would be even more amazing if you could implement midi with it, and controller by any midi controller or stream deck.9. Direct to composite (Producer/ Podcaster Mode)
This is extremely important especially if I am in a crunch and have a short turnaround time. At the end of the recording, it should be a "What you see is what you get" product for:
1. Quick editing,
2. Quick clip extraction
3. Quick transcription
4. Quick turnaround and needed to go out almost right at the seconds.10. Markers (Producer / Podcaster Mode)
This would be a great addition to the feature. Imagine, I get to mark let's say Mins 20:30, and then a short description about what it is, it could help me get a sense of what I could use for social media, or if there's an issue there that I need to check or refer for post production.11. Internet Connectivity Warning (Producer/ Podcast Mode)
I know in squadcast, you can see the internet connectivity. However, those changes once the recording starts, and the upload is starting. There will always be different reading when it's recording, and when it's idling. Cause it uploads during the recording, and when bandwidth is used, the internet connectivity become worse. It should 1. give you the ability to check the internet connectivity (Dummy upload) without having to go into the green and do the test. and 2. let you choose between a focus on upload or focus on recording. When it's focusing on upload, the output audio should be compressed to lower quality to eliminate the delay between guests and host.13. This is from the Notepd AI!: "Third-Party Integrations: This would allow Squadcast to integrate with popular third-party services like Slack, GitHub, and JIRA."
