Sunny Saturday in Derbyshire
1. A weekend at home
No travel this weekend so we drove to Thornbridge Hall where we are gold members. 2. Hot in the sun
I'm not a huge fan of sun. We had Elevenses inside but sitting at the open patio door. The parasols weren't having any impact outside and I'm not good in full sun. I had a cherry scone and latte. As gold members our drinks are free and we receive 10% off food.3. Peony watch
I was hoping the peonies hadn't yet opened. But they were still in bud apart from one pink flower. 4. On the lawn
We sat on the lawn in front of the hall. Under a parasol. Bamber lay on the grass. The field beyond the haha had been mown and was very yellow. 5. Cottage garden
There were some blooming white peonies in the cottage garden which was lush with roses, alliums, foxgloves and many other flowering plants.6. Poppies
The poppies looked like they were going over. They were huge!7. Star alliums
The flowers on the alliums were like tiny stars.8. Orangery
It's red hot in there! I stepped in, took a photo of the Bougainvillea and stepped out again!9. Foxgloves and alliums
I love the gardens and immense grounds at Thornbridge. They change rapidly throughout the seasons.
