Ten Major Living Changes Since COVID Lockdowns

Just got to thinking how much life has changed, at least in my area and life, from pre- to post- lockdowns.

Ten Major Living Changes Since COVID Lockdowns
Preview

    1. Remote Work

With remote work becoming the norm for many industries, individuals have adapted to working from home, transforming living spaces into makeshift offices and embracing virtual meetings as the primary mode of communication. [But many employers seem to be re-thinking this option. Mine had us come back much earlier than others]

    2. Increased Hygiene Practices

Heightened awareness of hygiene and sanitation has become a prominent feature of daily life, with frequent hand washing, sanitizing surfaces, and wearing masks in public settings becoming standard practices.

    3. Limited Social Interactions

Social distancing measures have led to a decrease in face-to-face interactions, prompting individuals to rely on virtual platforms to connect with friends and family, leading to a shift in how we maintain relationships. [While we're long since back to in-person church services, we are still streaming for people who can't make it in, and our church board meets virtually.]

    4. Home Cooking

The closure of restaurants and limited dining options has sparked a resurgence in home cooking, with many individuals rediscovering their culinary skills and experimenting with new recipes. [Our son (17) has become a pretty darned good cook as a result].

    5. Emphasis on Health and Wellness

The pandemic has underscored the importance of prioritizing health and wellness, leading to an increased focus on activities such as at-home workouts, mindfulness practices, and self-care routines.

    6. Digital Dependency

Reliance on technology has surged, with online shopping, virtual entertainment, and digital communication serving as essential tools for staying connected and engaged during periods of isolation. [For me, it was more trying new products - food, tech, etc. - that I wouldn't have done before.]

    7. Outdoor Activities

With indoor spaces restricted, there has been a surge in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and gardening, as individuals seek solace and recreation in nature.

    8. Mental Health Awareness

The pandemic has brought mental health to the forefront, prompting discussions on stress management, coping strategies, and the importance of seeking professional help when needed.

    9. Education Transformation

The shift to remote learning has reshaped the education landscape, with virtual classrooms, online resources, and e-learning platforms becoming integral to academic pursuits.

    10. Reevaluation of Priorities

The disruption caused by the pandemic has led many individuals to reevaluate their priorities, reassessing career goals, relationships, and lifestyle choices to align with their values and aspirations.

These living changes reflect the resilience and adaptability of individuals in the face of unprecedented challenges. As we navigate this evolving landscape, embracing these transformations with flexibility and optimism can help us thrive in a post-pandemic world.
