Ten Uses For A Sinkhole
Us folks in the hinterlands of Northern New Jersey have been experiencing some major traffic delays due to several large sinkholes in the area on Interstate 80. Luckily, no one has been hurt...
Our area a major center of iron mining, and there are (according to reports) at least 600 mines located under our general area. Heard that our earthquake about a year ago may have started the issues.
Our son (as a new driver) and I got caught in traffic from the first one - three hours to get about three miles to our exit - got to see a full range of emotions (crying, bird flipping) and behaviors (nearly rolling a Mercedes SUV trying to cut the line). He was cool about it, even though he had off from school that day.
In any case, here are some of my (pretty ridiculous) thoughts:
1. Jersey Folks (and others) will get this one...

2. Long Jump Of Doom
Make it or make arrangements...
3. Highway Lap Pool
Need a workout when caught in traffic? Hop in for a few laps.
4. Geology Field Lesson
5. Star Gazing Nook
Cut the highway lights to reduce light pollution and pray you're not joined by an 18 wheeler.
6. Drive By Rest Stop
When traffic is slow, and ya gotta go.
7. Center Of The Earth Starter Kit
With shovel and pick.
8. Trash Depository
Beats it being on the side of the road, and may get picked up at some point.
9. Mini Adventure Park
Ropes course, rock climbing wall, cave exploration, dig your own minerals.
10. Snake Pit
Imagine the fun awaiting the unaware traveler...
