The gathering of gear that I'm taking to the range helps me slow down, think, and instill order.
2. Meeting friends
Not social by nature, so the interaction is good.
3. Manual of Arms
Preparing, clearing, loading your firearm is a very defined practice that requires mental attention and fine motor skill dexterity.
4. The Shot
Some of my firearms only hold a single round. Others may hold ten, twenty, or more rounds. It doesn't matter. There is only the shot that matters. The last shot can never be changed. And you can't think about the next one if you are focused on this one.
5. Affirmation
Most shooters instinctively know "how good a shot" they are. Your targets are confirmation. Be it improvement, maintenance, or even a little slide backwards, your targets don't lie.
6. Firearm maintenance
Tearing the guns downs, cleaning, and preparing them for the next use is like a cleansing mantra that closes the session.
