Types Of Investments To Be Aware Of
The original version of this was due to post this morning but when I looked, it had disappeared.
1. Stocks (Equities)
Stocks are the thing that go up the most, most of the time.
2. Fixed Income (Bonds)
Fixed income can range from very simple and safe to very complex and risky. It's important to know which is which.
3. Gold
Usually a good diversifier for stocks but going heavy into gold out of some sort of doomsday fear, hasn't worked very often.
4. Other commodities
Energy, industrial metals, agriculture and other precious metals.
5. Alternative strategies
These are for diversifying against equity holdings. They can be very complex, many don't do what they purport to do, it takes a fair bit of study to understand these.
6. Foreign currency
It's difficult to make a lot of money here without leverage.
7. Cryptocurrency
This is probably worth learning about even if you never plan on speculating here. And I would think of it as speculation.
8. Cash instruments
Things like money markets and certificates of deposits.
